By definition a circular economy (also referred to as "circularity') is an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources. The circular economy aims to keep products, equipment and infrastructure in use for longer, thus improving the productivity of these resources.

Did you know that in South Africa each individual generates about 6.2KG of e-waste per annum according to stats issued by The e-waste Association of South Africa (eWasa). 

According to the UN's Global E-waste Monitor 2020, mobile phones contribute the most to e-waste, with 53.6 million metric tonnes (Mt) of electronic waste generated worldwide in 2019, this is up 21% in just five years. Of that only 17.4% of 2019's e-waste was collected and recycled, indicating that recycling activities are not keeping up with pace with the global growth of e-waste. This needs to change to ensure a sustainable future but requires the actions of the collective and not just the few.
